Basic Operations Get Complex

Filed under: News — Author: Herschel Schmoikel

We saw something on DogsOnAcid today about Nathan from Basic Operations having a bit of a spaz with regards to his part in the crew. Allegedly he writes all the tunes whilst the others get all the glory. Perhaps they’ll even break up in an epic fashion?

Here at the Wobble we’ve never quite been sure how many people are in Basic Ops, but one thing’s for sure: it reminds us just a shade of the whole Pendulum situation, except with more rural pastures and fewer Russian groupies. You know, where one guy makes all the music and the others make sweet love to the dance floor, as well as strong cups of tanin stimulant. And what about all those rumours of there being a 4th member? Who really knows, but as usual you heard it here second, if you caught the original thread.

  1. From the horses’ mouth’s mouth:

    Hello All,
Nathan here. After much personal deliberation, i have made the decision to comfornt an issue which has weighed heavily on my shoulders for quite some time. My decision to come forward to north carolina first comes from the obivious understanding that you all have been by my side since day one, and many of you know are aware of histories and particular deep rooted issues within the north carolina scene.

I come to you all first to let you know i am no longer involving kevin (focus) in my creative process. There are many reasons which need’nt be brought public but mainly because the vibe just hasnt existed. Some things are meant to work and some just arent. For myself, this has been an issue of years of production and grinding, to be handed off to the ideas of gradure and publicity based on nothing more than a drive to get ahead.

I must say before i continue that this decision lies not in the negative, and the output of Basic Operations will always continue, because at the end of the day its about a vibe. its about pushing soul and love into music. not material gain and fortune (which has clouded the process for some time).

When kevin came to me wanting to be a part of basic Operations, i made the decision to say yes, partly because i wanted to get ahead myself but also because i saw somthing in him that looked like promise for the future.

I spent several years writting every tune telling myself that there was no need to involve myself within the public becuase i had someone to do that for me. But the realization has set in that the original intentions and the outcome of history are 2 very different things, and i need to continue this as it was originally meant to be. and that is. about music. about soul . and about pushing somthing we all hold more dearly to our hearts than our closest, and that is, .. drum and bass.
Thankyou ncdnb. thankyou for all your support over the years and always telling me to perservere through the darkness. and now. things are being made right.

    much love
    nathan aka. Basic Operations.
    “re-invent.”
